Here's the deal....
1. Participating sites must have content related to Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan, any of the Mariana Islands, or anything of "Chamorro flavor". As long as any part of your site offers something constructive toward this objective, you will more than likely be accepted.
2. Web sites that promote unlawful and/or immoral acts against ethnic, religious or cultural groups will not be accepted for membership.
3. Web sites that promote nudity, pornographic, obscene or vulgar content beyond what would be considered a maximum PG- to mild R-rating will not be accepted if such content is readily accessible by visitors without explicit warning. Keep in mind that this is a judgement call made by the ring administrator(s), which is not contestable. If your site is not blatantly an adults-only site, you are welcome to apply for membership. If your site contains nudity, pornographic, obscene or vulgar content, you must ensure that:
all explicit pages MUST be somehow reliably protected from public access and some proper form of adult entertainment eligibility prerequisites (e.g., adult verification system, password protection, etc.) must be in place.
your main page, which loads upon a visitor clicking links to your site from the web ring and the page on which the web ring's logo will reside, must be free of viewable adult graphic content.
the requirement of having a related theme must prevail. If you are an avid adult/porno buff and your protected site spews 99.9% adult entertainment, you are not welcome for web ring membership unless you can substantiate a relationship to the Chamorro Web Ring's theme.
4. Web sites partaking in negative propoganda about the islands or any content about the islands of a non-constructive, malicious, or demeaning disposition will not be accepted. This may sound like a biased rule, but if you have only bad things to say about the islands, you don't belong in the ring anyway. Forums for dialogue where avenues for two way discussion are excepted.
5. The administrator of The Chamorro Web Ring, or any party appointed to duties concerning administration of the ring, reserves the right to reject any application for membership at any time without obligation to justify the decision. However, every effort will be made to discuss potential application problems with the applicant.
6. While the ring especially encourages membership of personal home pages, however small and simple, we don't particularly care to go through the motions of adding a site to the ring only to see that site disappear a few days/weeks later and go through the motions of deleting it from the ring again. If you intend to maintain a published web page for a considerable length of time, you're welcome to join. If you're still toying with HTML and haven't decided if web pages are your thing yet, hold off on applying for membership until you've decided on keeping your page around a while.
7. Violation(s) of or non-conformance to any of these guidelines after membership acceptance will be grounds for immediate removal from the ring without notice.
Additionally:
- Accepted members are encouraged to contribute to the growth of the ring and invite qualifying non-members to join.
- The Chamorro web Ring might send periodic "newsletters" or bulletins to members to share information, news, and/or updates concerning ring activities or projects.
